Our mission was simple, develop a detergent that whitens and brightens as well as the household brands, but without leaving any plastic in our landfills or waterways. This meant we had to forego a commonly found material known as PVA.
PVA is a petroleum derived, DISSOLVABLE plastic used to bind 'laundry sheets' and wrap 'laundry pods'. In our research it was unclear how long it takes PVA to decompose, but according to one study out of NewCastle University (that researched ingested plastic by deep sea creatures) remnants of PVA is showing up in the bellies of sea creatures:
"The fragments identified include... polyvinyls closely resemblingpolyvinyl alcoholor polyvinylchloride -PVA and PVC."(The Economic Times)
Super Concentrated Laundry Detergent
Our solution to the PVA dilemma was to take an old technology - laundry powder - and give it a modern boost by concentrating it so that you only need one teaspoon for lighter loads, and 1 tablespoon for heavier loads. 1 tablespoon of our detergent weighs about 12g, vs. a typical liquid pod, which weighs on average 23g.
THE RESULT? LESS SHIPPING WASTE, fully biodegrable packaging without having to compromise on cleaning power.

5 REASONS WHY WE USE PROBIOTICS IN OUR CLEANERS
When we developed our line of cleaning products, we opted for an array of ingredients that offered an effective clean that would last a long time.

ALL PACKAGED USING THE OMNIDEGRADABLE® SOLUTION
Packaging is important to us. We knew we needed something that would decompose everywhere - the Ocean, landfills and out in nature - while also protecting the product itself from the elements (water, humidity, etc). That's why we partnered up with our friends over at TEKPAK Solutions. They have paper packaging lined with a plastic that preserves, protects AND decomposes - everywhere - which is why they call it 'Omnidegradable'. Their product is engineered with the use of a completely organic additive, which in the presence of microbes, create an enzyme that breaks down the long-chain molecules of the plastic. This allows the microbes to then consume the plastic. After 10 years of testing, they can make just about any type of packaging Omnidegradable® – resealable pouches, zippered bags and even bags with off-gassing valves.
