Our cleanser (and all etee products) are developed with EWG's skin deep® rating system in mind. The hazard score, from 1 to 10, reflects known and suspected health hazards linked to the ingredients. Our goal is to use only low hazard (1 -2) ingredients. In some instances we may use ingredients that range from a 1 - 4 because - for example - some ingredients are a 1 or 2 if rinsed off the skin (as is the case with some cleansing agents), but a 4 if left on the skin. The rating system works as follows.
Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate
This surfactant helps to cleanse the skin by removing dirt, oil, and impurities, creating lather and enhancing the foaming action of the cleanser.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
A mild surfactant derived from coconut oil, it contributes to the cleansing and foaming properties of the facial cleanser. NOTE: this agent could be considered a 1-2 when used as a cleanser because it's meant to be rinsed off, but higher if left on the skin.
Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate
Another gentle surfactant that aids in cleansing and foaming while maintaining a mild and non-irritating formula.
Sodium Chloride
